Hi Jan,

Dusty and I just wanted to give you an update on Hakeyla (Keyla). She is an amazing dog and the time you spent at an early age socializing her is so evident. I have never met a dog before that could learn so quickly. She has already learned to consistently sit, stay, shake, lay down, and focus. She has such a sweet personality, yet is already so protective of us and our home. She has been everywhere with us camping, swimming, out on the ranch and she seems at home wherever she goes. She has even picked out a toy that she will never destroy. It is a little blue bear. One day we came home to find we had accidentally left a broom and paper towels out and they were both ripped to shreds. Right in the middle of the mess was this bear with not a scratch on it. She carries it into her crate at night and sleeps with it. She has learned to love her crate and will let us know if we are staying up past her bedtime! I've attached some pictures so you can see how she looks now. Some of them are from the other day that we spent playing in the water in her pool. A couple are also from out on the ranch where we take her to run and play. Jan thank you so much for breeding and raising such an amazing dog, companion and friend. We would and have recommended you to anyone who is interested in a German Shepherd. We hope everything is well with you and your dogs. Hopefully we can make a trip down to let Keyla visit.

Talk to you soon,
Nick & Dusty ~ WY

As these pups mature, we hope their "new people" will keep in touch, offer us updates, and send us pictures of them to see how our breeding selections with the sire & dam of the litter are producing. We are ALWAYS anxious to hear from our buyers, and we are also here to answer any questions or help with training, health care or other matters you may have interest in.

We are very proud of the breedings we've chosen to do, & the litters that we have produced. We believe the excellent references and comments we receive from owners of our von Hasental puppies over the years say it all.

Jan,

Just a quick note since we are in the midst of relocating to Texas.

Hawna had another vet appt for her other shots on Friday. Really, I cannot tell you as I’m sure you already know, how darn smart she is, she’s already going to the door or ringing the bell at the door when she needs to go outside, she doesn’t run off, she stays close, she comes when called, she listens to commands and obeys, people are so impressed when I tell them she’s about 3.5 mos old and already so well behaved! I have 3 crates set up and she loves them, will lay in them on her own, kennels when told to, just amazing, we love her!

Hi. J
Just wanted to thank you for your time on the phone 2 weeks ago and your sage advice. All of the concerns you identified were things I knew but didn't want to admit to myself. The 2 Springers, the fence, the yard, the subdivision and HOA, the bike path...taken as a whole they really do make this difficult if not impossible. I wish I would have found you before I got the 2nd dog a few months ago, although he is a great dog and we are very attached. I just heard a story about 2 beautiful 9 month GSD littermates in a subdivision were forced out by the HOA. That would definitely happen to me. Our subdivision, the people that live here, and the HOA would have that dog out of here as soon as it barked at a passerby.
So, I appreciate your bringing these things home to me and preventing an expensive and heartbreaking mistake. Too bad...raising and training a GSD would be very fulfilling for me and the dog. I definitely have a heart for the German Sheperd.
Thanks so much for the process you require from applicants. It serves all parties extremely well, and you are obviously a conscientious breeder that doesn't want mistakes to happen to her dogs or her patrons. I don't have to name names, because every breeder I came across in CO said the right things like breeding for improvement and placing the right dog in the right home and socializing the litter...but they all turned out to be money motivated with no real concern for their customers, their pups, or even the knowledge that they are breeding instability. I found it to be a business where caution is highly advised. You truly are the only breeder who says and does the right things for the right reasons, and I have talked to every CO breeder I could find. I really appreciate it..

Jan,

Julia and I would like to start by thanking you for a great life companion that we have found with Hildago. It became very clear within the first week at home with us, there was a strong and special bond being built. I am one of the lucky ones that was able to visit your home in Wyoming twice, for several hours each time, and this gave me a great picture of your dogs great quality of life. This also gave you and I ample time to select the right pup for us, and Mr. Purple was definitely the correct choice. Hildago is forming into a beautiful and intelligent dog before our eyes. He is doing very well in his socialization and obedience training at home and in class (star student every time)! He is rewarded daily by venturing over to the park or river, and seems to get much satisfaction out of both. Just last night, we visited some friends with two adult yellow labs and Hildago acted marvelous, at the end of the night he and Barney were lying down at our feet sharing the same stick. We will be taking our first camping trip this weekend and we can already sense his excitement to check out the wilderness. When the cooler weather comes this fall, we will begin agility training with Hildago and I'm sure he will excel just like he does with all tasks he faces. Also, we will be starting the process for therapy dog work here in Denver at Children's Hospital, so we'll have this great work to look forward to when he is old enough. All of this is possible due to the great temperament that is bred into the Von Hasental lines, and it was evident the first time I met the "H" litter and all the adult dogs at your home. Thank you so much for the great head start you give your puppies, and for the knowledge and support you offer throughout the process of having a Von Hasental GSD become part of the family! Please enjoy the great pictures of Hildago @ about 16 weeks.

Take Care,

Jan,

We wanted to send you an update and a few pictures of Harkara. She’ll be 5 months next week; it’s hard to believe she’s growing up so fast! She’s growing up beautifully and we’re constantly complimented on how beautiful and well bred she is. The vet is impressed with her great structure and she’s very healthy.

Besides being gorgeous, she’s also smart as a whip! She goes to puppy class on Monday nights; our instructor is AKC certified and has shepherds of her own. Harkara will be taking the puppy version of the good citizen test in a few weeks and we’re sure she’ll pass with flying colors. Last week at class we played with some agility equipment. She was great at the weave poles but her favorite was the tunnel. Some of the dogs had to be coaxed (Or forced) through, but Harkara could hardly wait for her turn! When she’s not playing, she’s learning a lot of commands and tricks. Her repertoire includes sit, stay, shake, down, rollover, heel (sitting when stopping to cross streets, etc), come (sitting in front, then walking behind to end in a heel position), drop it, leave it, ringing a bell hanging from the door when she wants to go out, and “kenneling up”. Of course, with her puppy energy, sometimes it’s difficult to get her to settle down enough to focus, no matter how much we try to wear her out!

At home she’s wonderful. The only naughty thing she does is dig through my purse (Of course, that’s a training issue on my part, I need to learn to put it away). As you can see in the pictures, she gets along well with her siblings. She adores our other dog, Satchel and he tolerates her well. They’ve been enjoying the nice weather, waking us up early, eager to play in the yard, there have even been a few nights we can’t coax them back inside and they’ve camped under the stars. When she is inside, her favorite thing to do is chase the cat, Garret. We used to worry he was being harassed, but in fact, he eggs her on! They occasionally slow down enough to rest side by side or nose to nose, then it’s back to playing.

Thank you so much for the opportunity to add such a wonderful dog to our family. Not a day passes that we don’t talk about how lucky we are to have her and how much joy she brings us. I was slightly concerned when we decided to get a shepherd, because Max has wanted once since childhood and I worried that she wouldn’t live up to the dog he’s built up in his mind all these years, but she’s really a very special dog and far exceeded our expectations. Thank you for all the dedication and hard work I know it took to breed and raise her. Everything you’ve put into your dogs is obvious and we’re very thankful to share our lives with a Von Hasental Dog.

Jan,
Just had to drop you a note and tell you how very much I adore this dog! Hawna (Nali) has been a fantastic addition to the family, and I'm home with her all day long (I telecommute) and I LOVE it, she's my constant companion. She'll follow me from room to room, and she's so smart and we just love her! My husband thinks I'm nuts but I talk to her and I know she's understanding me. So funny. She's incredible and absolutely gorgeous. We take her out to the property we're building on (25 acres) and let her run and I've seen her jump like our Hanoverian show horse. Great form! She actually retrieved a dead dove (dove season started here in Texas yesterday and someone shot it and it must have gotten away) and she had an incrediblly soft mouth and was so alert and has shown great working form already. This is one smart puppy! I've attached a picture I took of her two days ago.
Thank You,
Kym (and family) - TX
